Fractal Design North ATX PC case white

My Custom PC Build

In July of 2025, during our move from Texas to Colorado, my custom PC was lost with all the rest of our personal belongings. On my PC and various backup drives I had Sims content (game saves, lots, CC, and sims) dating back to The Sims start in 2000. That was 25 years of memories and game play gone, along with around 500 GBs of related data.

My primary focus when we got to Colorado was ensuring I could freelance if I needed so I bought myself a MAC MINI which is a great computer that runs my Adobe products like a dream at a super affordable price BUT not really a gaming system. It wasn’t until our insurance company finally came through that I was able to start thinking about a new PC to game on.

I’d built my previous PC during COVID so I’d struggled to get a graphics card but the rest of the build was pretty affordable. Spring of 2026 – anything that involved memory or storage was insanely expensive. I’d originally planned to do a small case build but as soon as I started pricing parts I knew I needed to go with the larger ATX size in order to have the most options.

Some things that made the build a little more complicated: I prefer white for my techno devices and I wanted a glass side on my case like my previous PC build with RGB so as much as possible the parts needed to be white and have RGB. I found a gorgeous case by Fractal Design very similar to my old case but with a grown up wood detail that fits into the living room that I love.

This list is what ended up inside my new PC.

I primarily purchased everything between NewEgg and MicroCenter, prices were changing so quickly that I lost deals on a free GPU cooler before I could hit “BUY” and then my RAM price went up by $100. I didn’t have to buy a keyboard and mouse since I already had those to support working from home on my work laptop, they’re logictech slim profile. I did already have a 27″ Phillips monitor for work it doesn’t have the resolution of a gaming monitor so…
